An ancient parish on the banks of the Thames and neighbouring S Peter’s London Docks across the water to the north. The parish church was rebuilt in 1715 as the medieval second church on the site succumbed to flooding. Originally a trading and maritime community Rotherhithe is a thriving and expanding London village with vibrant growth and welcoming heart. S.Mary’s rediscovered its Catholic roots during the Oxford Movement through Cambridge connections with Clare College our Patrons since 1730 and proclaims the heritage of faith today. We hope to serve and worship God in this age in which we are set and welcome all who knowingly or unknowingly look for God’s loving presence in their lives. May Our Lady Star of the Sea guide and pray for all who journey in the faith of her Son Jesus Christ.
